Can I use a HP Pavilion rock-hard drive as a slave contained by my Compaq?

Yes, but if it is an elder drive, you will have to jersey the proper pins so that both don't think they are masters.

The pins to pullover are near the power nouns. Normally there are a set of 3 to 5 pins that look resembling ::: or :::::

Sometimes having no pullover (a connector that causes two pins to be linked) is adjectives that is required. Sometimes you jersey the second or middle pair nearest the power cord.

Best bet is to see who made the drive, move about to their website, pull the user instruction book, and look for the work slave to see how to jumper the pins (if required).
sure, it's not similar to HP and Compaq make their drives.
Yes You can do so.

Check the pullover on the hard drive se as Slave.

In BIOS setting if the drive is detected and displayed.

Then from Operating system you will be competent use it as a secondary storage device.
Sure you can, newly set the jumper to slave !!
