AIW9800 Pro Graphics card v pale PSU??

AIW9800 Pro Graphics Card Question.

Last week adjectives was working fine, running the above graphics card near an Antec 300w Smart Power PSU. Then the power supply popped and it was time for a unusual PSU.

As this was freshly a back up computer I (foolishly) go cheap, and boutht a 350W Colour IT PSU.

Ever since I have have no end of problems. I preserve getting the red text appear on peak asking me to attach power to the card, along with a series of beep! This does not happen adjectives the time, occasionally the machine powers up and adjectives is fine for the day.

My initial thoughts are that the PSU is not providing satisfactory power to the card. Does this seem just about right? Would I be far better biting the bullet and ordering contained by a named brand?

I will be conducting tests this theory out next when I take the gadget home and attach it to my neo power supply, if it works then later I have pretty much answered my own press, but would appreciate any thoughts in the have it in mind time.

Regards

Tony

ATI 9800 Pro draws 47 watts or about 4 amps on the +12V banister. The 350W power supply you bought may have be strong on the +3.3V and +5V rails but stunted on the +12V rail. Newer power supplies complying beside ATX V2.01 or V2.2 have strong +12V railing (actually dual rails). Take note that a sophisticated rated power supply runs cooler, last longer and gives you plenty of elbow room for upgrades.
