I own 2 desktop installed in a room and connected beside ethernet 10/100 box. I am sharing printer from both the PC but unable to connect broadband on other PC. Please suggest the how to configure both the PC so that I can soak up broadband on both the desktop.
2 PCs on LAN. Unable to connect broadband on other PC.?
For this u should know the ip address of System or given by ISP.
goto run- cmd- ipconfig /all (this command will show the complete ip address list.)
Note it down.
Goto my lattice place right click Properties- Lan properties- select Tcp/ip setting -click on properties- Enter noted ip address.
For ex- ip address:192.168.1.10
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Then on DNS server Address
ip address: 210.210.4.5
So Put same range of ip address approaching 192.168.1.1.11
And Subnet , Gateway, Dns Server address will be same.
It will work .
Try turning off your firewalls as a first step. They normally block such connections. Then in control panel in that should be a connect to a network or similar function that you can use.
By far the easiest way to share a broadband nouns is to buy a cable/DSL router. Check out www.netgear.com for inspiration or head down to your local PC store.
However, it can be done for free surrounded by Windows using Internet Connection Sharing. I'm assuming here that you're using Windows XP. Check out the following link:
